Der Westwall

This is a gummed banner, 19 inches or 47 cm long, which was meant to be glued across the bottom of a feature film poster, as an "Added Attraction." In this case, the Fritz Hippler 1939 documentary on the building of Germany's WEST WALL defences.

Even though the Collection does not have the actual film poster for Der Westwall, we do own the original Reich Censorship Board censorship card for the film:

THE WEST WALL - A film about the German western fortifications.

This film shows in exciting sequences
of images that
the "wall of peace"
is insurmountable.

The Wall in the West:
The pride of our soldiers
The confidence of our people
The ruin of our opponents.

No village, no house, no
town on the border of the
West is no longer defenceless
against the mercy of a belligerent
power.

Watching this movie
fills us all with a
feeling of boundless
confidence.

Nobody coming here gets through!
