Hitlerjunge Quex Ufa 1933 Advertising

HITLERJUNGE QUEX

(Uƒa 1933, Director: Hans Steinhoff, Producer: Karl Ritter )

Offered here are three original 1933 promotional pieces from the Uƒa studio for their new film, HITLERJUNGE QUEX.

1. The ultra-rare 8 page Uƒa newspaper 'Opfergeist' ("Spirit of sacrifice" , sized ca. 9 1/2 inches x 13 inches // ca. 23.8 cm X 31.5 cm; with the name of the cinema in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony screening times mimeographed on the lower panel of the back poster page.

This newspaper was distributed to all Hitler Youth to market the film to that audience. The articles, as shown on the pages scanned include ones by Karl Ritter on how he found the boy who plays the lead role; an interview with "the Jürgen from Northern Germany – from Flensburg" (Jürgen Ohlsen), interviews with the lead artists such as

                 ###   S  O  L  D ! !   ###

Heinrich George and Berta Drews, background information about the film, many press photos, as well as the new HJ song composed for the film, and then the stunning reproduction of the poster in B&W on the back cover.

We found our first copy of "Opfergeist" in 1977, and have only seen two other originals for sale in those ensuing 44 years and  –– we bought both of them!   This is the last one we have to sell.

2. The original 8 page brochure on the film printed by Uƒa in their 1933/1934 annual preview press kit. Pages one to five are scanned here. Page 6 was blank, as were the two inside front and back covers. Ultra-rare! One of these is on permanent display at the famous Berlin Filmmuseum in their room on National Socialist films.

-also included:

3. is the 4 page Uƒa studio brochure (text only) which lists all 27 feature films being released in 1933/1934; of which "Quex" is film #10. This brochure is a companion piece to the red/white/black 8 page brochure (listed above as item #2.)

If this film is of interest to you, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire these impossible-to-find 1933 items, which were the very first announcement of the film.
