In 1933, he was the original choice to play the role of Heini Völker in Hitlerjunge Quex, but fell ill after the first week of production, and was hurriedly replaced by the unknown Jürgen Olsen, after frantic searching for a new boy was undertaken by Uƒa Producer Karl Ritter.
