Mann für Mann

This striking, timeless poster graphic design by noted poster artist A. Bauer, with its bold typography and vibrant colours, makes a feature film about the building of the Autobahn seem compelling.

There was a 2nd, alternate, poster for the film, which is not in our Collection. It was designed by famed graphic artist, Peter Pewas:

These images are from the "Werberatschlag" or cinema owners' guide sent out by the Uƒa film studio so cinemas could pre–order posters, film stills, handbills and other marketing/promotional materials before the film premiered.

Our poster for the film was featured in the Reichfilmkammer's  influencial magazine, Der Deutsche Film, Vol. 5, #9 from March 1941, in an article entitled "The Artistic Film Poster." We show below, the relevant page from that article. The page shows a third poster for the film, which is also not in our collection.

The working title for the film as announced in the 1939/1940 Ufa film studio preview book for cinema owners, enticing them to hire that season's films, was COLUMN 13, as shown below in the A3 poster sheet published in that book (from our Collection):
