Schwarzhemden (Camicia Nero)

A 60 minute documentary film on the Black Shirts - the Battle and Victory of Fascism, produced in 1933 in Italy by Forzano. The German director Herbert Selpin was responsible for the German version of the film, for which the poster in our Collection was issued, along with an Illustrierter Film–Kurier program brochure for audiences, shown here.

Our original German poster was designed by Erich Ludwig Stahl, whose signature you can see on the upper right corner area of the poster. Stahl was a famous graphic artist best known for his groundbreaking works in German expressionism in the 1910's and '20s. Today, his 1919 posters from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari) adorn the walls of museums around the world - including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

We have three ultra-rare Italian stills from the film, along with a four page cinema brochure, in our Collection, as well:
